Miguel Sbastida (Espagne, 1989) est un artiste visuel qui travaille à travers la sculpture, l'installation vidéo et la performance sur site, dans une enquête autour des intersections du temps géologique, des écologies culturelles et de la dégradation du climat. Dans ses oeuvres, il étudie la géopoétique de la matière et les processus environnementaux à travers des perspectives ontologiques, scientifiques, éco-critiques et post-humanistes. Son processus est hautement conceptuel et comprend la création artistique comme un point d'entrée pour l'analyse épistémologique et la transformation sociale. En interrogeant les frontières traditionnelles entre le vivant et l'inerte, l'humain et le non-humain, le biologique et le géologique.

Ses oeuvres s'efforcent d'établir de nouvelles perspectives vers un sentiment d'appartenance, d'agence, de contamination croisée et d'échange dans notre relation avec l'organisme terrestre.
 

Sbastida est diplômé d'un MFA de la School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2015-17), avec le soutien total d'une bourse de la Fondation La Caixa ; où il a été nominé pour les prix de la Fondation Dedalus en sculpture. Il a obtenu un BFA à l'Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2007-12) après avoir effectué des études de BFA en Hollande (2011) et au Canada (2012).

Miguel est basé à Madrid où il continue à développer de nouveaux projets. Il vit et travaille en Espagne et au-delà.
