The fourth showcase of the "The Night Shift" project is invested this time by Aïda Kazarian.
For a long time, the book has been taking shape in Aïda Kazarian's pictorial work. Thanks to this showcase project, the artist offers us to see, for the very first time, two secret and complementary facets of her work... the book and the video.
"Non à ce canon" comes from an antimilitaristic palindrome read in a novel by Erri De Luca. In the hands of Aida, it becomes the subtitle of a video unveiling a book. The occasion, for the very first time, to show videos of the artist.
In the first showcase, a screen on which four videos scroll, not as testimonies of his painting, but rather as an unveiling of his major preoccupations.
The first video, with the evocative title of "Ar...Tsakoug" ("Wow...little chick" in Armenian) appears to us without the sound. Another way of signifying our inability to communicate freely in these dark times.
The books present in the showcase which allowed the making of the videos are another way of indicating our inability to interact directly with the works. However, it is possible to activate the sound by applying the QR Code that you will find on the window.

In the second window, it is her books painted during the war in Artsakh (Karabagh) in late 2020 that can be seen. The frustration is all the greater since we cannot manipulate them freely!

De vierde vitrine van het project "De nachtploeg" wordt ditmaal belegd door Aïda Kazarian.
Al lange tijd krijgt het boek gestalte in het picturale werk van Aïda Kazarian. Dankzij dit showcase-project laat de kunstenares ons voor het eerst kennismaken met twee geheime en complementaire facetten van haar werk... het boek en de video.
"Non à ce canon" is ontleend aan een antimilitaristisch palindroom dat te lezen is in een roman van Erri De Luca. In Aïda's handen, wordt het de ondertitel van een video die een boek onthult. De gelegenheid, voor de allereerste keer, om video's van de kunstenaar te tonen.
In de eerste vitrine, een scherm waarop vier video's scrollen, niet als getuigenissen van zijn schilderkunst, maar eerder als een onthulling van zijn voornaamste preoccupaties.
