Pierre Gerard, born in 1966, works at the intersection of music, sculpture, painting and installation. His work is entirely focused on the secret life of matter, images and objects. At stake is also the secret life of beings  in that marginality (in the social sense) and intimacy (in the sense of an identity which only belongs to oneself) are also involved. This is a life that unfolds plumb in front of our eyes (or within reach of our ears), but one that oddly enough we often fail to grasp, and are even less able to name. Through intricate repeats, through subtle montage pertaining of naturalism as much as of animism, the artist brings to the foreground this pre-historic, pre-linguistic, pre-mediatic life. He reminds us of it. We discover it with bewilderment: it is as familiar as it is vibrant.
